Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re not sure what to expect or which type of support is right for you. We believe therapy should be clear, collaborative, and focused on creating meaningful, lasting change. If you’re searching for a therapist in Boston, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, or South Carolina you’ve likely noticed there are many options, and finding the right fit can be challenging.
We specialize in therapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the everyday struggle of building a meaningful life while managing stress and overwhelm.
One-on-one work designed for adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship patterns, and personal growth. We'll help you recognize and understand what's keeping you stuck and develop the necessary skills to move forward.
Evidence-based therapy for partners who want to improve communication, (re)build connection, and address the patterns keeping them stuck. We'll help you and your partner move from conflict and distance to greater empathy and closeness.
Structured, extended format sessions for couples looking to maximize progress in one to two days. Through this approach, we'll help you and your partner develop new insights, create productive pathways through conflict and repair, and aid decision-making through effective communication.
Supportive, comprehensive supervision and case consultation for students, early-career therapists, and seasoned clinicians committed to high quality, ethical clinical practice. We provide a space for case conceptualization, didactics on theory and intervention, ethical decision-making, and professional growth.
If you've never been to therapy before or had a negative experience with a previous therapist, you might be wondering what the process actually looks like. Here's how therapy works at JP Psychotherapy:
We don’t subscribe to just one therapeutic approach. Instead, we use proven methods tailored to your specific needs and what the research shows works best for your particular challenges.
We work with thoughtful, driven individuals and couples throughout the Greater Boston Area and across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, and South Carolina.
Our process combines tailored approaches and active partnership to facilitate observable change during and after therapy. Our aim is to help you graduate from this space, equipped with new insights and skills to effectively navigate the ups and downs of life and relationships.
Before scheduling your first session, we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your concerns and determine if we're the right fit.
We'll gather background information, discuss what's bringing you to therapy, and collaborate to establish clear, meaningful goals for our work together.
We meet regularly (usually weekly or biweekly) via secure video sessions. Each session builds on the last, using evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your specific situation.
As you develop insight and skills, we gradually reduce session frequency and prepare you for life after therapy. Our goal is always your independence.

Greater Boston Area & Massachusetts (All Cities)
Florida and South Carolina (statewide) through telehealth
Finding the right therapist is about fit, clinical expertise, therapeutic approach, and whether you feel heard and understood. Start with a consultation call to discuss your needs and determine if our approach aligns with what you're looking for. We believe therapy works best when there's genuine partnership between client and therapist.
Yes. Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. The therapeutic relationship, not the location, is what creates change. Many clients appreciate the convenience and flexibility of virtual sessions.
We're a private pay practice and don't accept insurance directly. However, we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement that you can submit to your insurance company. Many PPO plans reimburse 50-80% of costs. We're happy to discuss this during your consultation call.
This varies based on what you're addressing and your goals. Some people see meaningful improvement in 8-12 sessions (2-3 months), while others benefit from longer-term work (6-12+ months). We discuss timelines openly and track progress regularly to ensure therapy is working for you.
Individual therapy focuses on your personal growth, patterns, and challenges. You attend alone and work on yourself. Couples therapy focuses on the relationship between partners, communication, conflict, connection. Both partners attend together and work on relationship dynamics. Some people do both simultaneously.
Yes! We serve clients throughout Massachusetts, from Boston to Western Mass, North Shore to Cape Cod. As long as you're physically located in Massachusetts, Florida or South Carolina during sessions, we can work together via secure telehealth.
Currently we offer daytime availability throughout the week. If you need evening or weekend sessions, please contact us to discuss options or we can provide referrals to other qualified therapists with different schedules.
We’re here when you’re ready to move beyond coping and into real, lasting change. The consultation is free, the conversation is honest, and the decision is entirely yours.
